Irish men's lacrosse earns them a trip back to the national championship

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Notre Dame clinches consecutive national championship appearances, while riding a 13-game winning streak.

#1 Irish vs #5 Denver took place at Lincoln Financial Stadium with a trip to the national championship on the line.

Notre Dame started out down 0-1, until Chris Kavanagh capitalized on a pass from Will Angrick to tie the match 1-1. It was the beginning of a great game for the Junior Kavanagh, who went on to score a hat trick (three goals), along with his brother Pat Kavanagh and Devon McClane.

Pat Kavanagh just the third player in program history to record 30 goals and 30 assists in a season, joining his brother Matt and Chris.

The win over Denver gives head coach Kevin Corrigan his 350th win during his 36-year tenure with Notre Dame. He becomes the first coach at the Division one level to reach the milestone.

The Irish will face #7 Maryland on Monday at 1 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field.
