Indiana State Prison employee in critical condition after assault by inmate

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. - An Indiana State Prison employee is in critical condition after an inmate allegedly struck him in the head with a steel pipe during an argument.

Investigators say the incident happened at 12:30 p.m. Monday afternoon at the state prison in Michigan City.

They say inmates were working in the prison's steel shop when an argument broke out between inmate Jeremy Davidson of Logansport and the employee.

The employee was flown to a local hospital for emergency treatment. His name has not yet been released.

Davidson has been transferred to a different facility.

He is currently serving a sentence for child molesting.
