Indiana Judge deals setback to state's lawsuit against TikTok

An Indiana judge has ruled that downloading the free social media app TikTok doesn’t amount to a consumer transaction under state law,

That ruling is a blow to the state's lawsuit claiming the Chinese-owned video-sharing platform misleads its users about the level of inappropriate content and the security of consumer information.

The judge's decision means Indiana cannot prevent TikTok from stating on app stores that it has little, if not no references to drugs, or other inappropriate content for children as young as 12.

The judge says Indiana does not have the authority over TikTok's statements on Apple's app store because both companies are based outside of Indiana.
