ORIGINAL APRIL 7: LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Natural Resources announced it's placing an emergency order to restrict boating on the Indian Lakes Chain in LaGrange County.
The Indian Lakes Chain includes Dallas, Witmer, Hackenberg, Westler and Messick lakes.
The order restricts the operation of motorized watercraft.
DNR officials say a boating restriction is put into effect when surface water conditions are likely to enter dwelling structures because of a wake.
