Indiana Bicentennial torchbearers announced for Elkhart County

The torchbearers for the Elkhart County torch relays have been announced.

The Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay happens in October.

Twenty-eight of Elkhart County's all stars have been chosen to showcase the community’s highest ideals of service, perseverance, and love of the community.

The torchbearers represent one of the five pillars for Elkhart, being arts and culture, strong economy, social services, education and youth, and community advocacy.

They come from all over Elkhart County and shared their excitement in representing where they come from.

"Just to be nominated as a torchbearer is a wonderful thing to happen to anybody you have a chance to represent 200 years of Elkhart County for the state of Indiana is unbelievable and its quiet an honor,” said Gregg Fore of Middlebury.

The relay is October 4th at Mybrook Dairy Farm with a ceremony kicking off at 8:00 a.m.

The route will cover 52 miles with torchbearers either running, walking, or in vehicles for their stretch of the route.
