Hundreds of senior citizens evacuated due to broken A/C

INDIANAPOLIS — The electricity went out in an Indianapolis senior community on Wednesday. Living without air conditioning can be unbearable for some, but it can become a health hazard for senior citizens.

Dozens of first responders helped to evacuate hundreds of senior citizens when they had to go without air conditioning. They moved all those people into the ball room of the building, where it was slightly cooler.

Power was restored to that community about three hours after the evacuation.
