House fire on Cushing Street in South Bend Tuesday morning

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend Fire Department reports firefighters responded to a fir at 807 Cushing St. around 4:46 a.m., Tuesday.

Fire officials say upon arrival crews witnessed flames on the second floor outside eaves at the back of the residence.

Crews quickly brought the fire under control.

One resident safely exited the home and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

There are no reported injuries to firefighters on scene.

The origin of the fire remains under investigation.
