House ends session before voting on Sandy aid

Victims of Superstorm Sandy will have to wait for the next session of Congress to hear the fate of a multi-billion dollar federal aid package.

The House of Representatives wrapped up this session without considering the legislation authorizing assistance for victims of Superstorm Sandy.

The Senate had already passed the $60.4 billion measure, but because new lawmakers will be sworn in this month the entire legislative process will have to restart.

Republican leaders said the deal on the fiscal cliff took so much time, they didn't have any left to discuss the Sandy bill.
