Hotel options ahead of historic match up in South Bend
SOUTH BEND, Ind -- As the historic matchup between Notre Dame and Indiana University is getting closer, so is the opportunity to get a hotel room in South Bend.
Prices near campus are going for as much as $600 to $700 hundred dollars a night! If you want to save money, there are much better deals to be had in Mishawka, Elkhart and even Berrien County, Michigan. Where you can get some rooms for less than 200 dollars a night.
Molly Hart of Triple A of Indiana and Illinois shared some information about game day logistics and where you may still be able to find a hotel room as it gets closer to this historic match up. Looking slightly outside of South Bend could be saving you money!
“You can look into Mishawaka, which is about three to five miles away from Notre Dame. It's a great town. It has good lodging and also food and restaurants. You can go a little bit further to La Porte, that's 25 miles away”
Flights are going to be full not only due to the historic matchup but also because of regular holiday travel and for those coming from the Chicago area she recommends using different modes of transportation like the train.
"We highly recommend for those coming in, whether they're just from Chicago or not, or from a different area, but trying to get to the game South Shore is an excellent way”
For those who are lucky enough to have tickets to the historic matchup or if you’re watching at local bars or restaurants, Molly has a warning for both about staying safe this weekend
“You know, we encourage using alternative modes of driving, other than you driving. You want to have fun. We don't want you getting behind the wheel after consuming some alcohol. So, take advantage of all the other transportation options that are out there. You want to have fun, but we also want you to be safe.”
