Hobart man sentenced to 14 years for drug and firearms charges
St. Joseph County Jail: Justin Ring SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A 37-year-old Hobart, Ind. man will spend more than a decade in prison after pleading guilty to drug and firearms charges, according to the United States Attorney’s Office Northern District of Indiana.
Justin Ring pleaded guilty to Possessing with Intent to Distribute 50 Grams or more of Methamphetamine, a Mixture and Substance Containing a Detectable Amount of Fentanyl, and a Mixture and Substance Containing a Detectable Amount of Cocaine, and Possessing a Firearm as a Convicted Felon.
Ring will spend 14 years in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release.
Court documents reveal authorities identified Ring as a methamphetamine distributor operating in the Michigan City area in 2024.
Documents state Ring sold high purity methamphetamine to another person on three occasions between October 2024 and December 2024.
In January 2025, documents reveal Ring was pulled over by law enforcement for a traffic stop, during which he was found to have 439 grams of methamphetamine, 4 grams of cocaine, and 15 grams of fentanyl inside of the car with him.
Police also located a 9-millimeter pistol hidden in a compartment area behind the radio.
On the same day, authorities searched the hotel room where Ring was staying at the time.
In the room, officers found more methamphetamine, another 9-millimenter firearm, and plastic bags and a digital scale used for packaging and weighing drugs.
Documents show Ring has prior felony convictions for Dealing a Counterfeit Substance and Possession of Paraphernalia, both of which prohibited him from possessing a firearm.
