Grand jury to review Goshen Police shooting on January 9

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Elkhart County Prosecutor Vicki Elaine Becker has requested a grand jury be convened to review a police action shooting by a Goshen Police officer. The officer shot a suspect who led multiple agencies on a nearly 40-minute pursuit on January 9.

The officer who shot suspect Joshua Perry, 34, was identified as Lieutenant Michael McCormack, according to Goshen Police.

Perry survived the shooting.

Becker says the grand jury will review McCormack's actions and the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

A grand jury is an investigative body that can hear and examine evidence in a case.

The grand jury will commence on March 13. Their proceedings are not public.

After he was released from the hospital, Perry was taken into custody for a probation violation and was charged with resisting law enforcement.
