Graduating Mishawaka Seniors return to their elementary schools

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Seniors from Mishawaka high school who attended one of the seven area elementary schools returned to those same hallways today- for a final walk-through.

The seniors, wearing their caps and gowns, went back to where their school journeys began, and were greeted and cheered on by all of the elementary students, who may one day also walk these same halls as grads.

It was an opportunity for the 2026 graduates to reflect on how far they've come:

"It's pretty interesting to see everything that, you know, I grew up seeing and seeing it all again, kind of nostalgic," said Brook Way.

And their teachers reflected on the past and their journeys as well:

Dalona Daggy, a fourth-grade teacher at Twin Branch Elementary told us "I'm getting close to retirement, so this really just solidifies the worth, and the decision I made to go into education, and to see how these kids feel. The best thing you can do as a teacher is to build those connections, and to see their families today, and to see them. It's just been so meaningful."
