Goshen man sentenced for Illegal Reentry and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender
GOSHEN, Ind. -- The United State Department of Justice has sentenced a Mexican citizen to 24 months in prison after he was deported from the U.S. but found in Goshen two months later.
Authorities say 39-year-old Jose De Leon Medina was sentenced by the United States District Court on Thursday after pleading guilty to Illegal Reentry of a Removed Alien and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
According to documents in the case, De Leon Medina was convicted of Child Molestation in 2019 which required him to register as a sex offender.
After he completed his prison sentence, "he was removed from the United States to Mexico," the U.S. Justice Department said.
"Two months later, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials learned De Leon Medina had illegally reentered the United States and was living in Goshen, Ind. De Leon Medina had also failed to register as a sex offender."
