Gaslights & Granite Boulders tour at the History Museum

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- On Saturday November 13 at 4:00 p.m. the History Museum is offering a specialty tour of the Oliver Mansion.

During the special tour participants will learn about how the Oliver Mansion transferred from gas lighting to modern lighting, what the home’s basement looks like, or how it was heated in 1897 when the family moved in.

The tour will be led by Deputy Executive Director Kristie Erickson and will demonstrate how the house has evolved technologically from 1897 until now by showcasing the current electrical project.

The tour will take you to areas of the 12,000 square foot home that are not normally shown on the regular tours such as the pump house, attic, and lower levels of the mansion and the carriage house.

Admission to the event is $25 for the general public and $20 for museum members. Tickets are limited and reservations can be made online here or by calling 574-235-9664.
