BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- A friendly game of basketball provided some help from the hardwood to assist a local charity.
High school students from Niles hosted Brandywine for four six-minute matchups pitting staff versus students.
It all started with a project from three Niles students looking to help the community somehow.
In doing so, they enlisted help from the Niles mayor and the Ferry Street Resource Center, a local organization helping the homeless.
The event also included a silent auction, a raffle, and a halfcourt shot contest.
At last check, the students estimated around $2000 was raised, which will be donated to the resource center which is still cleaning up after a fire last May.
