BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Associate Board of the Frederick S. Upton Foundation announced they're looking for funding proposals from local non-profit organizations for their "BIG IDEA" grant program.

Applicants are asked to submit their letter of intent by April 1.

Officials say the grant aims to fund creative, innovative programs that significantly and positively impact life in Berrien County.

Every year the Foundation awards a $50,000 grant and a $25,000 grant to non-profit organizations serving the county whose program or new idea is making a positive impact.

Officials say they're looking for proposals that demonstrate innovation, vision and a plan for sustainability to ensure long-term benefits for the community.

The "BIG IDEA" funding opportunity is open to 501(c)3 non-profit agencies, schools, religious organizations engaged in community work, and governmental agencies.
