SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Police report that a four-year-old girl was injured in an early morning shooting Sunday at the Miami Hills Apartments complex.
Police were called to the 3300 block of South High Street around 1:20 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found the four-year-old injured from a gunshot wound. The child was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Initial investigations suggest that the child was inside an apartment when she was hit by gunfire coming from outside of the residence.
Several other apartments were hit by bullets, but no other injuries were reported.
This remains an active investigation, which is being led by the South Bend Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit.
