IND. -- The Indiana Conservation Officer K-9 School has announced the graduation of four Conservation Officer K-9 Teams who completed the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Law Enforcement's nine-week K-9 Resource Protection Program.

A graduation was held on the south lawn of the Indiana State House.

The Indiana K-9 program began in 1997 with two teams in a pilot program. Now, the program has grown to 10 teams throughout the state.

Indiana has assisted other natural resources agencies in other states, including Kentucky, Maryland, Idaho, Washington, and Virginia.

The K-9s in this program are trained to locate white-tail deer, ginseng, waterfowl, and wild turkey.

They also excel in articles searches, wildlife detection, man-tracking, and locating firearms.
