Former ISP trooper arrested amid sexual crime allegations
DECATUR, Ind. – A former Indiana State Trooper has been arrested on preliminary charges of sexual battery and sexual misconduct with a minor.
The trooper was identified as 54-year-old Jack Hewitt of Greensburg.
ISP personnel were notified of the allegations against Hewitt by another law enforcement officer on August 9th.
Hewitt was immediately placed on paid administrative leave, and resigned as of Thursday afternoon.
Hewitt met with the Decatur County Prosecutor and was arrested after 3:30 Thursday without incident and is currently being held at the Decatur County Jail.
Hewitt began his tenure with ISP in December of 1998 and was most recently assigned to the Versailles post until his resignation.
According to officials Hewitt has no disciplinary history with the state police.
