Former Indiana governor Mitch Daniels to serve as Purdue's interim president
Purdue University WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Purdue Board of Trustees voted Monday to appoint Mitch Daniels as the interim president of Purdue University.
Daniels is the current president emeritus and chair of the Purdue Research Foundation board. He previously served as Purdue's president between 2013 and 2022, taking on the role shortly after the end of his second term as Indiana's governor.
Daniels will become interim president effective July 1 after current president, Mung Chiang, leaves to become president of Northwestern University.
"We are extremely grateful to President Emeritus Daniels for his willingness to continue his long and successful service to Purdue University in a role with which he is very familiar," trustees Chair Gary Lehman said. "We look forward to working with Mitch and the executive team in leading Purdue to even greater heights as it continues to impact lives through its land-grant mission and the persistent pursuit of excellence in higher education."
Mitch Daniels agreed to serve as interim until the next president of Purdue University takes over. A national search will be launched soon.
