Former Concord teacher enters guilty plea in child porn case

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - Andrew Cowells, a former Concord High School teacher charged with child solicitation and possession of child pornography, has changed his plea, and will now plead guilty to the charges against him, according to court documents.

Back in 2021, Cowells was charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of child solicitation, in addition to other charges including voyeurism, battery and vicarious sexual gratification.

In July of 2021, Cowells pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In September of 2021, his defense team announced he’d enter an insanity plea, documents state.

With this new guilty plea agreement, his right to an insanity defense is waived.

The court will now review the plea agreement, which, if accepted, would drop the voyeurism, harassment using a computer network, and one of two battery charges against him.

His sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 27.
