Former caregiver sentenced for battery, strangulation

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- A former caregiver was sentenced for injuring a man who uses a wheelchair. Ashley Humphrey was sentenced to 50 days in jail, 2 years house arrest and one year probation for his convictions of one count of battery -  bodily injury to a disabled person and strangulation.

He was found guilty at trial in April 2022.

He was sentenced during a hearing on Tuesday.

The victim, 29, uses a wheelchair due to a health condition. The victim said Humphrey strangled him and pushed him back into his wheelchair, according to court records.

The incident happened in September 2019.
