Flavors of India expansion brings fusion to Michiana

NOW: Flavors of India expansion brings fusion to Michiana

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The restaurant Flavors of India recently opened its second location. Expanding from Mishawaka to South Bend, the new location combines both Indian and Italian food.

Flavors of India offers North Indian and Indochinese cuisine. They decided to offer Indochinese cuisine because it’s popular in India and isn’t offered in Michiana. Another thing not offered in Michiana is south Asian food on pizza! Which isn’t the only difference present in the new restaurant, owner Ruby Kaur says.

"This location is definitely bigger than the other one.” Kaur says. “We're offering a buffet here; we don't offer that over there. The pizza is also another thing we’re going to be doing here. Then the party room-we have a separate party room-we do have that over there but that's a smaller room for like 25 people but this one is going to be a little bigger."

Kaur sources their food locally, and she does so because her religion values community. She hopes this creates fellowship — that extends the sentiment towards their newest location, which offers more to customers.

While opening week is buffet only, take out is an option until you can order to your table. By football season, they intend to have a bar available to customers.

The traditional menu and pizza menu offer a wide variety of delicious food and offer plenty of vegetarian options so everyone can enjoy the fusion.

So next time you're trying to figure out whether to decide between Indian or Italian food, Flavors of India will try to cure both of those cravings in one place.
