ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind., --- UPDATE - The 5-year-old boy has been identified as Jeremiah Holmes, of South Bend, who tragically passed away due to his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 28-year-old Christopher Holmes, of South Bend, who was uninjured and cooperated with investigators.
The crash remains under investigation by the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team.
A GoFundMe has been made to help pay for his funeral expenses.

Officials are investigating the death of a five-year-old, accidentally run over by his father at Castle Point Apartments.
St. Joseph County Police responded to the call just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday night for a child not breathing.
When the police arrived, they say the scene was chaotic.
Initial reports were that the child suffered a head injury from being shot in the head, with bystanders stating there was a shooting however, officials later determined that was incorrect.
After an investigation officers discovered the child’s father accidentally run over the five-year-old in the parking lot of Castle Point’s playground.
When medics arrived, they took the child to a nearby hospital where they later died.
FACT is investigating the deadly accident.
