AUSTIN, Texas -
Fighting Irish fans are arriving in Austin Texas for Sunday's Notre Dame game against the Longhorns.
It is the first Texas home season opener to sell out before game day since 2009.
That's in big part because of the Fighting Irish fan base, always fiercely loyal and proving time and time again they will travel anywhere to support their team.
"They are a very passionate fan base, but so are we. So I think if you intermix the two you are going to see some fun times," said Ryan Frost, a Notre Dame fan from Chicago.
"University of Texas is always on my bucket list to go and watch a game. So even if Notre Dame hadn't been playing Texas this is a place I wanted to go to eventually," said Jeff Mensch, a Notre Dame fan from San Francisco.
