Fatal single-vehicle crash investigation in La Porte County

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The La Porte County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the 4500-east block of C.R. 800 North regarding a vehicle being off the roadway near some trees on Thursday around 9:21 a.m.

The report states the initial on-scene investigation determined a green 2012 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling east on C.R. 800 North.

Deputies say the pickup truck then traveled left of center, across the westbound lane, and left the north side of the roadway.

After leaving the roadway, authorities say the truck crashed into a tree, rolled over, and collided with more trees before stopping.

The driver, identified as 48-year-old Craig A. Raas of Three Oaks, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Toxicology test results are pending.
