Fatal shooting on W. Cleveland Ave

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. --The Elkhart County Homicide Unite was activated on Jul. 20, around 10:52 p.m., to handle the investigation of a fatal shooting in the 300 block of W. Cleveland Ave, by the Elkhart City 911 Communications Center. 

Officers with the Elkhart City Police Department and first responders arrived and found an adult male with apparent gunshot wounds. 

Despite their life-saving efforts, the male victim was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. 

A second male victim also had apparent gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. 

This initial investigation indicates that this was an isolated incident, and that there is no immediate danger to the public. 

The Elkhart County Homicide Unite has been activated and taken over the investigation, per protocol.
