BENTON HARBOR, Mich.--- The family of a St. Joseph High School student who was allegedly assaulted by the former site director of the Boys & Girls Club held a press conference calling for his arrest on Thursday. The site director, Chris Glisson was immediately fired by the Boys & Girls Club but was not arrested.
"It’s been eight days since the attack and he’s still on the loose," said Steve Meridy Sr., the alleged victim's father. "There’s no way in the world, if I showed up on a school’s premise and choked out your kid I would be able to leave the school."
The Meridy family alleges that Glisson physically choked their son on February 20th at St. Joseph High School.
Glisson has not been charged with a crime at this time and the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident.
On Friday St. Joseph High School sent a letter to parents saying "The number one priority for both organizations is the protection of the youth we serve. Both the Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph High School are actively cooperating with the City of St. Joseph Public Safety Department's ongoing investigation into this incident.”.
Berrien County Prosecuting Attorney Michael Sepic says he will make a decision on charges next week.
