False reports of tornado in Goshen

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Wednesday afternoon there were reports of a tornado in the Goshen area and tornado sirens sounded. But there wasn't a tornado.

What many may have mistaken for a tornado is a scud cloud. It usually forms behind a dissipating storm.

The difference between a scud cloud and a tornado is a scud cloud does not have rotation associated with it like a tornado.

A scud cloud looks very similar to a tornado.
