Here's something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving - lower gas prices!
Almost 50 million people are expected to travel more than 50 miles by car for the holiday.
This year is set up to be the cheapest Thanksgiving to travel by car since 2020, during the pandemic.
The national average price for a gallon of gas sits at $3.34 right now, that's down by 55 cents a gallon over the past 2 months.
This is more than the typical drop in price we see during the fall season, putting the national average at a 10-month low.
The Energy Information Administration shows gas demand decreased by over 1 million barrels per day last week. This lowered demand, paired with the declining price of oil, is why we’re seeing a break at the pump.
Keep in mind that prices do vary from state to state, so crossing state lines during your travel could end up making the price of gas or diesel go up or down significantly.
