Elkhart Police seeking public's help finding stolen truck and a male and female suspect in connection with a shooting

ELKHART, Ind. --  The Elkhart Police Department is seeking the public's help in finding a stolen truck and a male and female suspect in connection with a shooting and in the stolen vehicle investigation. 

At approximately 5:16 am, the Elkhart 911 Communications Center received a 911 call of a shooting with injuries at 2300 W Mishawaka Rd in Elkhart. When officers arrived, they located a 51 51-year-old man with a gunshot wound.  He was transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of what is believed to be a non-life-threatening injury.

The initial investigation shows that the victim confronted a masked male trying to break into their vehicle. During the incident, the male suspect reportedly shot the victim in the leg and fled with a female suspect in the victim’s truck.

The Elkhart Police Department is actively searching for this vehicle, a 1998 black Chevrolet GMT, with an Indiana truck plate #580OSS. If you see this vehicle, do not approach it and call 911 immediately. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. At this time, there is no additional suspect information to release.
