Elkhart Police Department holds Peace Officers Memorial Service and 5K9 Fun Run for National Police Week

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. --The public is invited to attend the Elkhart Police Department Peace Officers Memorial Service at 11 a.m., on May 15, at Kardzhali Park, Nibco Parkway.

Every May, fallen officers are recognized for their daily sacrifices, and honored and remembered by the Elkhart Police Department and the law enforcement community.

This years' service is held on the nationally recognized Peace Officers Memorial Day, and one of many remembrances taking place across the country, during National Police Week, May 12 to 18.

You can join the community in honoring and reflecting on the sacrifices fallen officers have made in the line of duty.

EPD's K9 officers are also holding their fourth annual fundraising 5K9 Fun Run and One Mile Walk to raise money for K9 unit equipment.

The run is on May 18, at Elkhart High School East starting at 9 a.m.

It's $25 and online registration ends May 17.  Day-of registration will begin at 8 a.m.
