Elkhart man accused of sexually abusing and impregnating a child
ELKHART, Ind. -- An Elkhart man is behind bars after it is alleged he molested and impregnated a minor during the course of abusing her for years.
Court documents state that 40-year-old Christopher C. Bonds first met and abused the victim when the victim was eight years old and Bonds was over 25 years old.
"The victim further stated that Bonds would force her to have intercourse with him an estimate of four times per week," court documents state.
"The victim advised that when she was 16 years of age, she got pregnant with Bonds' child. Bonds told the victim to keep her mouth shut about who the father of the child was. The victim stated that the incidents continued until she was 18 years of age."
The child was born in 2018.
Authorities say the victim stated that she told Bonds' girlfriend and the girlfriend's mother about the abuse, but both witnesses were interviewed and denied believing or knowing of the abuse and both denied that Bonds could be the father of the victim's child.
"The police analyzed the buccal swabs provided by the victim, the victim's daughter and Bonds," court documents state.
Certificate of Analysis dated Sept. 18, 2024, states the following:
"The genetic results are 4,300,000,000,000 times more likely if Christopher Bonds is the father of the victim's daughter than if an unknown, unrelated man is the father. This statistical analysis provides very strong support for the proposition that Christopher Bonds and the victim's daughter are related as biological Father and child."
Bonds was officially charged with one count of Child Molesting-intercourse or deviate sex with victim less than 14 years old, Child Molesting where defendant is at least 21 years of age, and Sexual Misconduct with a Minor.
