Elkhart fire blazes for hours
UPDATE: The Elkhart Fire Department arrived to find a three-story duplex with heavy smoke and fire coming from the east side of the building. 15-20 mile per hour winds were assisting the rapid fire spread. EFD slowed the progression of the fire and searched the structure. Neighboring exposure homes were also evacuated at this time. The structure was reported to be vacant, but authorities believe that homeless people may have been living there. After a search, no victims were found and no civilian or firefighter injuries are reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
