Death of university student in Michigan ruled accidental

ALLENDALE, Mich. (AP) — The death of an 18-year-old Grand Valley State University student whose body was found last month on campus has been ruled accidental, caused by hypothermia.

The school says Thursday that alcohol also contributed to Taylor DeRosa's death.

The first-year student from the Detroit area, was found dead by a runner Dec. 12 near sports fields on the Allendale campus.

The Detroit News reports that Grand Valley spokeswoman Mary Eilleen Lyon said an investigation showed DeRosa had attended several social gatherings.

Her body was found on a sidewalk about 400 to 500 yards from where she was let out of a vehicle.
