Cyclist hit by vehicle in Elkhart
ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Police Department says it responded to a crash between a Dodge Journey and a bicyclist in the area of Middlebury and Monroe Streets in Elkhart around 8:55 p.m. on Friday.
"Upon arrival, officers made contact with a conscious 39-year-old male lying in the road just west of the intersection of Middlebury St. and Monroe St.," EPD said. "The male reported that he was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a Dodge Journey. Officers made contact with the 54-year-old female driver of the Journey, who had been traveling westbound on Middlebury Street at the time of the crash."
Medics arrived and began tending to the male victim who was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment of what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
EPD says the driver of the Dodge stayed on the scene and is cooperating. The crash remains under investigation.
