BRIDGMAN, Mich. -- Following a brief forced outage, Indiana Michigan Power's Cook Nuclear Plant Unit 1 was returned to service on Sunday at 3:18 p.m.
Unit 1 was automatically shut down on August 28 at 1:48 p.m. due to a trip of the unit's #3 reactor coolant pump motor.
Plant operators removed the reactor from service without issues, and electric service to customers was not negatively impacted by the removal.
Officials determined that the reason behind the reactor coolant motor pump trip was a faulty power cable connector, according to Indiana Michigan Power.
The unit is now back in service following the completion of repairs.
