South Bend, IND.-- As fans come out to get a glimpse of the Blue and Gold teams facing off against each other in Saturday's scrimmage, they should also prepare to see orange safety cones and green vests.

Fans can't wait to get a preview of the 2023 season, despite having less parking options than usual since the Joyce Center Lot will not be open, as workers were hard at work on the Geothermal Wellfield Instillation s part of the University's commitment to achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050.

"Fans coming out for the blue and gold football game… will want to be aware…. the Joyce parking lot which is adjacent to the stadium parking lot will be under construction, " said the University's director of Media Relations, Sue Ryan.

Those coming out for the game or driving through the area should also be aware of construction happening on Douglas Road near the Wilson Entrance on the East end of campus.

All affected areas can be found here on the university's website,

Officials say there's still plenty of parking to go around, just be prepared as there is also a youth hockey tournament, Irish Baseball, and men's lacrosse game happening on Saturday.

"itll be a busy day on campus….and parking may be challenging... but were prepared to service all the patrons who are coming for various events," added Ryan.

Despite the Construction and the cold rainy weather predictions, fans like current Seniors Kieran Fangman and Henry Cella, as well as Class of 1989s Maria DeLuca says they will be there rain or Shine.

"No matter what happens well show out… I think that’s one great thing about going to Notre Dame…the fans will always come out…" said Cella.

"There is nothing that could stop me, I'm a diehard class of 89… I'm excited to be here and I'm always excited to be here on campus and see our team play…" adding DeLuca.

Parking and Tailgating are set to begin at 8am, and free shuttles will be available from further lots.
