Community rallies for Bourbon residents with tornado cleanup

BOURBON, Ind. -- The town of Bourbon is still recovering from last week's tornado.

The EF-1 storm damaged homes and toppled tree across parts of Marshall County.

Now, tarps are protecting peoples' roofs, and work on damage is already starting to get things repaired, with most trees, branches, and other debris being picked up from neighbors' yards.

And what ABC57 keeps hearing from the people in Bourbon, are stories of neighbors helping neighbors, with many people grateful for the support they've received over the past few days.

"The amount of people and what they've done in 24 to 48 hours was absolutely unbelievable. I never would have thought we'd have been standing here saying, we look this good, but we do, and we're extremely, extremely thankful," stated Resident Lonny Berkey.

Cleanup efforts will continue for weeks, maybe even months to come, but the people ABC57 have spoken to in Bourbon say they will continue to be there for each other.
