PULASKI COUNTY, Ind. -- Neighbors in Winamac are working together to clean up fallen trees and loose debris that are scattered across the area following heavy winds and thunderstorms from Thursday morning.
Many neighbors say the storm seemed to last for hours with loud strikes of thunder and toppled trees.
“It was blowing, you could hear the rain hitting the windows. I mean, the lighting and the thunder, it was just tremendous,” one neighbor said.
One garage fell victim to a falling tree limb that fortunately did not cause too much damage.
Another neighbor had a tree crash into his home that smashed some windows and took out the power.
“Just hard luck, you know? I guess it had to happen to somebody so I guess I’m as good as anybody else,” that homeowner said.
The neighbors came together today to begin cleanup efforts to get their community back into shape.
Additional crews were sent to the neighborhood to assist in moving the fallen trees and debris.
