Citywide Classroom connects 4,200 South Bend students, expands to Mishawaka

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - Citywide Classroom, an initiative that helps students and families in the South Bend Community School Corporation access the internet at home, has provided free, at-home internet connection to more than 4,200 students in the school corporation, initiative leaders announced on Wednesday.

Citywide Classroom was launched during the pandemic by the South Bend Connectivity Coalition with help from the school corporation and enFocus.

In addition to helping South Bend students with remote learning, some families said it helped those in their household apply for jobs, pay bills online, and work from home.

Now, Citywide Classroom is helping the School City of Mishawaka, aiming to connect an additional 200+ students and their families.

The School City of Mishawaka is partnering with enFocus to roll out 200+ hotspots this month to students with the greatest need.

Citywide Classroom is funded through a $1.8 million Governors Emergency Education Relief fund.
