City of Elkhart releases new information about delayed bridge project

ELKHART, Ind. – The City of Elkhart has updated the status of a bridge replacement project at Oakland Ave and W Indiana Ave.
The company responsible for the project, Norfolk Southern, had delayed the replacement of the 100-year-old bridge due to winter weather.
The project has now officially commenced and is expected to be completed on Friday, April 19.
The intersection is set to open the following day.
Norfolk Southern also announced that it will close the northern intersection of Oakland Avenue and Indiana Avenue through March 29. Detours signs will be posted for the duration of the closure.
The City’s Engineering Department appreciates the patience and understanding of residents during the project.
