Cities across Indiana willing to pay remote workers $5,000 to relocate
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Cities across Indiana are willing to pay remote workers $5,000 cash to relocate to the Hoosier state including South Bend, Elkhart, and Culver.
It could pay to live in South Bend, even if your paycheck isn’t coming from a South Bend business, and it’s the same for several cities across the state trying to draw folks in from all across the country.
“Post-pandemic there were tens of millions of free agents that can choose to live and work regardless of their job. So, cities that want to grow have the opportunity to do a bit of recruiting to bring them to their front door,” said Evan Hock the COO and Co-founder of Make My Move.
Make My Move is an online marketplace that connects remote workers to communities trying to attract new residents like South Bend and Elkhart, which are offering transplants a $5,000 relocation bonus plus hundreds of dollars of tickets, memberships, and passes to local attractions.
“It is important to realize just how attractive Indiana is in general. South Bend and Elkhart in particular. These workers are moving from places like San Fransisco, New York, that may want to find places more affordable, without giving up the amenities,” added Hock.
17 remote workers have already moved into the region, with 18 more on the way.
They have partnered with the South Bend- Elkhart Regional Partnership in hopes of bringing economic development to the area.
They claim for every $100,000 of income they bring into town, $83,000 of it will be pumped back into the local economy.
