STARKE COUNTY, Ind. - A Chicago man was serious injured in a personal watercraft crash on Saturday at Bass Lake, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources announced.

At 4:15 p.m., Conservation Officers patrolling the lake responded to a report of a serious crash with injuries.

At the scene, officers determined a 30-year-old Chicago man was operating a watercraft when he collided with the side of another watercraft traveling at a high rate of speed.

The man was ejected from the watercraft and lost consciousness. He was immediately taken from the water and brought to shore.

The man was flown to a local hospital in serious condition.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor, officers said.

This is an ongoing investigation.
