CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- Friends of a Vandalia woman are helping her celebrate a very special milestone birthday.
This week, Barbara Monroe turns 102 years old. Her friends organized a surprise party for her at the Cass County Council on Aging, where Barb is known to exercise and socialize. The party's organizers say it was a great opportunity to show her just how much they care.
"I've been working on this all week, and I am so glad with the way it came out," says Tracy Maleski, one of Barb's good friends. "So it just makes my day, how many people actually love Barb."
The festivities were made complete with Barb's favorite - chocolate cake. When asked the secret to living over 100, Barb said that there is no secret, and that it "just happened."
