CASS COUNTY, Mich. - A Dowagiac man is in the hospital after  he accidentally set himself on fire, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies responded Wednesday to a home on Middle Crossing Road to a report of a man on fire. They say Leslie Cross, 46, was no longer on fire, thanks to help from a neighbor.

They found out that Cross tried to exterminate a bee hive underground, when he accidentally caught fire.

He was airlifted to Bronson Hospital Burn Center in Kalamazoo.
