MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- A popular restaurant in Mishawaka was damaged on Wednesday morning when a car busted through the front wall, shattering glass, mangling the door, and causing the business to shut down operations.

Mishawaka police say Linda Folk had pulled into the parking spot in front of the Taste of Asia restaurant around 10:09 a.m. and believed she had turned her BMW X5 off.

"[Folk] stated that she got into her parking spot and pressed the park button on her vehicle," the crash report said. "[Folk] stated she began looking at her mail as she was running early for an appointment. [Folk] stated that suddenly her vehicle jolted forward and she struck the building."

Authorities say there were no injuries in the crash and the total damage done to the building was estimated between $5,001 and $10,000.

Jade Harmon, who works at a business next door to the Taste of Asia, created a GoFundMe for owners Bill and Proaw Kellens.

"For the second time, someone has crashed into their store front. This is costing them revenue and expenses to fix the windows and door that have been broken," the GoFundMe states. "Due to this unfortunate incident, they aren’t able to be opened during this time. Having to close the business during repairs, costs them product and income for themselves and their staff. Bill and Proaw need our help to get them through this difficult time, until they are able to open up safely for all of their wonderful customers."

Despite the bad luck, the Kellens say they want to reopen as soon as they can.

"Our awesome neighbors at EyeSite Optical have set up a GoFundMe page to help us try to get our employees, suppliers, utilities etc covered," the Kellens said. "If we can weather the bills long enough for the glass storefront to get completed & the Health Department 'OK' we'd like to keep trucking as long as physically possible."
