ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KTVI/CNN) - A car crashed into the roof of a home in St. Louis, Missouri on Sunday.
The driver lost control of his vehicle, hit a pole, knocked over a stop sign, went up a hill and landed on top of a house.
The residents were not home at the time.
Firefighters said the driver was trapped under the dashboard. He was removed from the vehicle and taken to the hospital in critical condition.
"This is kind of rare in the way it happened, how it happened, and how it was able to launch itself all the way up on top of the roof and that always creates additional problems for us, because fear of the roof coming down and stabilization of the vehicle while trying to get the individual out. The fact that he was trapped inside the vehicle wasn't just a slide him out, he was trapped," said Deputy Chief Michael Arras of the St. Louis City Fire Department.
Investigators say there was damage to a neighbor's home as well.
