Bus crash kills husband, wife and unborn child

INDIANAPOLIS — Family and friends are mourning a youth pastor, his wife and their unborn child after a bus crash killed them and another church member over the weekend.

The accident happened Saturday afternoon in Indianapolis.

Chad and Courtney Phelps were both in their 20s. Courtney was expecting the couple's second child in a month.

The third victim is 51-year-old Tonya Weindorf, a mother of a special needs child.

The church members were headed to Michigan.

"Our church grieves now. They don't grieve necessarily because of the loss," said Jeff Leffew, deacon of Colonial Hills Baptist Church. "God tells us in his word to be absent from the body and present with the lord. They're with god in heaven right now and we know that, without a doubt. But we grieve that they're not here we miss 'em."

The church is now organizing an effort to collect money for the surviving families.
