BREAKING: Elkhart County Sheriff's Office vehicle struck by large object on U.S. 20

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Traffic is currently backed up on U.S. 20 east bypass in Elkhart County after an incident involving an object falling off a truck and striking an Elkhart County Sheriff's Office vehicle.

The collision happened near the C.R. 1 overpass.

Dispatch confirmed the call came in at 3:18 p.m. but did not release the deputy's medical condition. 

Drivers should expect delays and avoid the area, if possible.
